Prince Edward Island Photo Galleries - The Hillsborough River

Photo: Jasmine Fletcher

Taken from route 351, Five minutes from Mt. Stewart is the Pigot Trail, a large Ducks Unlimited Pond and the River. The pond is fed by a small creek that runs for most of the year although at times during drought the creek will run dry. There may also be some natural springs in this pond. I have canoed it and let me tell you, it's very shallow but the birds sure like it.

The river in the background is mostly salt water and tidal. During low tide you can still travel on it with a small boat but if you're not careful you could hit bottom. The deepest this stretch of river gets during low tide is maybe 3 feet.
