As a teenager growing up in the West End of Ottawa I would very seldom make it to downtown. I spent most of my time in the
West End canoeing and fishing. But each summer I would jump on my 10-speed bicycle and ride to Parliament Hill by way of the
bicycle path and parkway. It took me about an hour going at a steady pace. Now that I'm much older and living in the Maritimes, I've probably have seen more of downtown Ottawa than I did in my youth. Most of these photos were taken during Canada Day Celebrations. They were always fun, exhausting and at times surreal. Especially at the end of the night after the fire works etc when thousands of people walk down the streets heading for their next destination. |
